I always welcome feedback, so feel free to email me
(Monday, 25th February) Today's update is a problem. How do you apologise to someone when you can't communicate with them? How do you explain that something which started out as a last act of defiance, a last gesture of contempt, born out of frustration at the inability to resolve a situation in the desired manner, has now left you feeling a bit of a heel?
I'll have to hope that the fact I've risked writing this will help convey my sincere apology and promise to call it a day.
It wasn't the threat of leaflets which did it - I frankly doubt the existence of the alleged photo - but another comment made at the same time, which hit home in a decidedly uncomfortable way and left me thinking, why am I doing this to someone who simply doesn't deserve it?
I think I'll have to archive this page and start again, as it's getting far too long!
And now for something pleasanter - after battling with the scanner, spinwave and irfanview in an attempt to display some more photos, I've sent the lot off to John! Hopefully they'll come back in more maneageable form .... watch this space for a link to some pics of Rosie and Michael in the snow and Emily and myself at the other extreme, in Aquapark, Magaluf.
What's a scrap object, anybody? This unflattering description of my edited photo of Rosie and Michael refuses to upload, so I'm displaying the original with all it's wasted white space (until John comes up with something better, hopefully). This has been a busy day!
(Sunday, 24th February) Happy Birthday Ashley! I decided against a link, in the end.
Poor hard-done-by Ashley! He seems to have received a few unwelcome birthday greetings ... he is so easy to wind up! And he seems determined to add years to my age ...
Ashley, when will you realise that this DOESN'T MATTER any more? It's not something to get steamed up about! Chill! Get a life! And remember that the copies I have might paint a different picture to the self-righteous one you're trying to portray.
(Tuesday, 19th February)Well, the photos are now sorted! I learn something new every day with HTML .... today it's been making square bullet points (see bottom of page) and how hexadecimal colour codes relate to each other. Thank you Carlton, the pink background is so nice I've decided to use it for this page. You've also got a mention in my META tags. And John, you saved me an awful lot of work - the photos are now much nicer, quicker to upload and half the size.
(Monday, 18th February)I've decided to put some photos of my family on a new page. People must be sick of looking at cats! Pics will be added as and when I get decent ones.
Help! The photos look as if the camera's been pointing at those distorted mirrors which make you look particularly elongated! Please, PLEASE, would someone suggest a better size? I'll be eternally grateful! John, where are you when I need your expertise? Ideally, the photos would have more width between them to fill the page, and not be quite so long! In fact, they need to be a bit smaller generally, or I won't get many more on the page. And Carlton, I must ask you what that lovely pink background colour was ....
(Saturday, 16th February)This week's update will be a compromise; a compromise that is, between an email I'm tempted to send, and the common sense, reasoning (and Harley), which tells me this is a bad idea. I haven't linked the article to the home page yet - that will have to wait until next Sunday.
(Tuesday, 12th February)Well, it didn't take long to fix the centre alignment. So to anyone who looks at this and wonders what response to make, thanks for being willing to help, but it's sorted. I really must give credit where it's due, and HTML would have me tearing my hair out if it wasn't for Harley and John!
I ought to write another article, but I'm a bit short of ideas. I've had the suggestion of writing about my training for the Cleveland Challenge, but all that consists of at the moment seems to be lots of early morning swimming. True, there's my bike ride across the Millennium Bridge, and through the pedestrian tunnel under the Tyne at Jarrow, but I don't think that would take up a whole page!
(Monday, 11th February)I've decided my site could do with some META TAGS, so have tried to add some keywords and a description to each page, although in the past I've been surprised how well search engines have found them ... looking at the site meter statistics makes interesting reading at times.
I've also joined a WEBRING, as you'll see from the top of the page. But as you can also see, everything underneath it has CENTRED again! This particular curse seems to affect my page frequently. Please, can anyone out there tell me why the webring has made my notes centre align??? I don't want to have to type p=left align before at the start of every paragraph!!!
(Wednesday, 6th February) I've been told I don't need the full path name if I want to link to files within my own site. So I've been removing lots of unnecessary www's. I'd still like to know why "vspace=4" hasn't made the slightest bit of difference to the display of my picture!
Now I've been told the opposite! That it's better to keep path names complete (relative addresses), in case files or pages get moved and for greater flexibility! So I'm now putting www's back in ... talk about getting nothing done.
(Saturday, 2nd February) A very quick update, as I've spent ages redesigning this page. Trying to get everything to fit in and not waste space is harder than it looks! What would I do without you, John? I've written a page which takes look at a few of Harley's books ... have a look. review
(Wednesday, 30th January)Isn't it wonderful how helpful people are? I only have to mention on this page that a picture needs resizing, or the page alignment needs altering, and someone will respond! Thanks to Harley for sorting out the center tags. I'm sure he won't mind a link.
(Monday, 21st January) This site is overdue some development! It's difficult finding the time to produce web pages, but I intend writing a bit more regularly from now on.
I'm still at the stage where it takes ages to write one article and get all the HTML correct, but I suppose it gets easier. A special thanks to John, who created the "Moira" logo!
Right now I'm recovering from upgrading to a bigger hard drive and subsequent reinstall of Windows - a nightmare every time! It would have been easier if I hadn't decided to try XP on my computer, only to discover the modem and scanner wouldn't work. Putting ME back on was no easy task! Still, everything is working again and it's a nice fresh start. Pity about XP, although we've got it on Rosie's computer.
Thanks for all the suggestions for reducing the size of my photo! It looks a lot better now. Why not email me with any other ideas for the site?
